Seventy two versus twenty eight

Have you ever wondered how these political actors in Pakistan keep coming back, year after year, election after election, even after making blunders upon blunders. Answer is really simple and lies in numbers. Seventy two percent of the population in Pakistan lives in villages or small towns. These are the people with no facilities, let alone luxuries. Without going into the details of their deprivations, let me just say, most don’t even have access to clean water. One rich and famous man steps out of his big SUV and promises them simple things like clean water or electricity, and they think of him as their saviour. They will give him their vote, without asking for any assurances that he will deliver his promises. Now according to numbers, this seventy two percent controls the rest of twenty eight percent. So naturally, whoever controls this seventy eight percent, will control the whole hundred percent. That is the spirit of democracy. The majority controls everything, even if that majority does not know its right from left. Therefore, the twenty eight percent population living in cities, most of them educated, can identify their problems, which are lot more complicated than simple access to clean water, cannot vote out the corrupt people from the political system, if they wanted to. Because they are part of a hundred percent, where they are in minority, and as long as the majority is being controlled by those corrupt politicians, the problems of this minority population are not going anywhere.

Hello Mr. Writer, I am not a big fan of writing comments but your this lovely article made me to write something. Well I read you article I must say it is well written but I would like to correct you on one major part where your whole article circle around it is the 78 percent of people vote, Mr. Writer come in to the reality of world, it is not necessary that what ever the books says are correct specially when it is about Syassat (Politics), the day when people of Pakistan will be given their right to “VOTE” then we will have clean water, electricity, paved roads, schools and etc etc. Right Now the reality is that yes they do go out for votes but only to show that they are asking for vote but in reality they know they will win the elections no matter the voters shoe up or no. People don’t know what to vote for, if they knew it then we would have not seen Mr. Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, MQM or etc etc in powers again and again and raping our country. I can say more but I am done.
